Last summer, the owner of our shop visited Ayoo’s studio in Amakusa and experienced firsthand the abundance of its breathtaking natural surroundings. The pieces ordered during that visit have now arrived. We invite you to enjoy these expressive vessels, born from the rich and beautiful landscapes of Amakusa.

Ayoo is a ceramic artist based on Shimoshima Island in Amakusa, Kumamoto—an area surrounded by lush green mountains and clear, tranquil seas. The studio is nestled in this ever-changing landscape, where the scenery shifts gently with the seasons and the passing of each day. Drawing inspiration from the grandeur of nature, Ayoo captures fleeting moments with a warm and gentle sensibility, expressing those impressions through quietly compelling ceramic works. The name Ayoo comes from a local Amakusa dialect—an exclamation softly uttered in moments of joy, sorrow, or surprise. It embodies the artist’s desire to give shape to emotions born from living closely with nature, preserving them through clay.
