Scarlet Pottery is a pottery duo consisting of ceramic artists Yuko Shige and Hiroki Kanazawa, working from a studio surrounded by the rich natural beauty of Amakusa, Kumamoto Prefecture. Using locally sourced "Amakusa pottery stone," Hiroki shapes the pieces on the potter's wheel, while Yuko is responsible for painting and decoration. Their creations combine precise craftsmanship with a sense of warmth, seamlessly blending Yuko's bold and free-spirited art with the refined forms of their tableware. Hiroki’s somewhat rebellious and punk-inspired personality and Yuko’s gentle and warm demeanor come together in perfect harmony, reflected in the cheerful, carefree smiles they share.
