This photobook by Takashi Homma explores urban landscapes in Japan and the United States. Homma describes his approach as "photographing cities through cities" and uses the camera obscura, a fundamental photographic technique, to capture his images. This primitive method results in a unique interplay of light and shadow, revealing layers of hidden urban scenes that ordinary photography cannot capture. The resulting images reflect a self-absorbed vision of the city, reminiscent of the Greek myth of Narcissus, who becomes entranced by his own reflection in water.
