A monograph focusing on the later works of French artist Henri Matisse. In the second half of his life, following a serious illness, Matisse turned toward new forms of expression such as cut-outs, producing works of increased freedom and vibrancy. Archival photographs of his studio and accompanying texts provide further context, allowing readers to quietly approach the core of his creative process while tracing the passage of time behind the works.

Henri Matisse (born 1869) was a French artist known for his vivid use of color and bold compositions, and is regarded as one of the leading figures of Fauvism. In his later years, he expanded his practice through cut-outs (gouaches découpées), creating works characterized by greater freedom and lightness. His ongoing exploration of the relationship between color and form continues to influence artists to this day.
