PLEASE SEND TO REAL LIFE : RAY JOHNSON PHOTOGRAPHS by Ray Johnson

¥9,680

A monograph by American artist Ray Johnson, published in conjunction with an exhibition at the Morgan Library & Museum in New York. The book highlights his late photographic works, shedding light on a lesser-known aspect of his practice. Captured with disposable cameras, these fragments of everyday life evolve into a unique body of work he titled “Movie Stars,” where his collage-like sensibility carries over into photography. Drawn from a vast archive and presented here for the first time, these works reflect the artist’s continued experimentation and enduring commitment to creation until the end of his life.

Ray Johnson (born 1927) was an American artist and a pioneer of Pop Art and mail art. Often described as “New York’s most famous unknown artist,” he explored themes of communication and human connection through collage and correspondence-based works. His open and unconventional practice, operating outside traditional art systems, has had a lasting influence on contemporary art.
