Flower vase by Yuko Takahashi. Set against a soft white base, subtle tones of pale grey with a hint of blue gently diffuse across the surface, as the glaze—formed in the kiln—creates a layered, landscape-like depth. The balance between its rounded form and clean, refined rim is elegant, offering a quiet presence that softly enhances a single flower or branch while bringing a calm atmosphere to the space.

After earning her degree in Ceramics from the Department of Crafts at Tokyo University of the Arts, she went on to complete her Master’s at the same institution. Now based in Noda City, Chiba, Yuko Takahashi continues her practice. Her interest in ceramics developed during her university years, influenced by the work of her professors and senior peers. She became especially captivated by the rich, unpredictable expressions that emerge through the firing process. Embracing the transformative nature of clay and glaze within the kiln, she thoughtfully explores various glaze combinations and firing methods in her work.
