Created in conjunction with the exhibition David Hockney – Painting 1960–2000, held from 2001 to 2002 at Denmark’s Louisiana Museum of Modern Art, this poster features Mt. Fuji and Flowers (1972) by David Hockney, one of the most influential artists of 20th-century Britain. A leading figure of the London Pop Art scene in the 1960s, Hockney traveled to Japan in the summer of 1971 with his friend Mark Lancaster. Drawing on that experience, he created this work after returning to London, composing the image like a collage using postcards of Mount Fuji and flower-arranging manuals.
