Omega IV (1959-1960) / Morris Louis

¥15,400

A poster from Denmark’s Louisiana Museum of Modern Art featuring Omega IV (1959–1960) by the American artist Morris Louis. Following the artist’s exhibition in 1975, this work was donated to the museum by Louis’s wife, Marcella Louis Brenner. Louis was one of the leading figures of the new generation of Color Field painters who emerged in postwar New York. In his work, color itself becomes the primary subject, creating expansive, open spaces without fixed forms or central points. In Omega IV, areas of raw canvas are deliberately left exposed, allowing the flow of color to stand out and giving rise to a quiet, open composition without a defined focal point or sense of depth. Transcending the traditional boundaries of painting, this poster invites the viewer to experience color and space as a physical and perceptual presence.
